“The Plant Hunter: A Scientist’s Quest for Nature’s Next Medicines” Belk Lecture

Dr. Cassandra Quave, a medical ethnobotanist and Professor of Dermatology and Human Health at Emory University, will give the Ethel Belk Lecture at 7 pm on Wednesday, September 30, 128 Pearson Hall on the topic “The Plant Hunter: A Scientist’s Quest for Nature’s Next Medicines.” Dr. Quave’s research research explores the therapeutic potential of natural products derived from medicinal plants, with a focus on discovering new strategies to combat antibiotic-resistant infections and inflammatory skin diseases. Dr. Quave will also give a Biology Department seminar entitled, “Development of a MicroED-Enabled Discovery Platform for Rapid Identification of Bioactive Natural Products,” on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 4:15 pm in 218 Pearson Hall.
